What feels like the longest and most soul sucking presidential campaign in history drags on ad infinitum. Hillary continues to stay just one step ahead of her opponents who are struggling to nail her for her slippery email practices while The Donald continues to take whining and blaming everyone else for his failures to new heights. And to make America sick again. These are not the glory days of political discourse.
I'm sad for our people's social well being in that our darkest and most dangerous feelings, which we normally keep under control, have been stirred up and brought to the surface, pretending to be viable.
We are divided by hate and bigotry brought on by campaign speeches intended to do just that.
Countries around the world are watching us and asking themselves how America could ever allow itself to get into such an ugly and frightening mess. They're getting jittery. Will America, wallowing in fear and hatred, be responsible for a global nervous breakdown? Can our social fractures be healed after the election?
I look forward to the day when this ugliness is behind us and we can start thinking and acting like the Americans we are and not the Americans that campaign speeches try to make us.
