Farewell to Chocolate
Say farewell to chocolate. Kiss your Hershey's Kisses goodbye. The Great Chocolate Famine of 2020 is coming. That's according to the chocolate experts who say that the cacao trees, from which chocolate is made, are being eaten up by fungus and that there is no more land available in the rain forest on which to plant more trees.
A chocolate fungus. And it's insatiable. So where does that leave the world's chocoholics?
Tiny Belgium, whose economy depends considerably on chocolate, must face the unthinkable--a world demanding Belgian chocolate when there just isn't any delicious, (sigh) decadent, (sigh) Belgian (sigh) chocolate.
Sigh.
Shopping malls, where chocoholics drool on Godiva chocolate display windows, will have to find new tenants for their shops.
Kids on Halloween will have to settle for fruit and candy corn (the candy version of rat poison) in their Halloween bags.
Valentine's Day, with its pretty red heart-shaped boxes, will lose all meaning when those boxes are filled with jelly beans or those tiny candy hearts (boo!) instead of chocolates.
As for me, I don't want to live in a world without chocolate. But I'm getting pretty old, so I probably won't have to. . . .
Sigh.
